The Long(er) Version:
(WODid)
So there he was - sitting around the Abyss, listlessly commanding vast armies of the undead - when the great Lord Orcus was suddenly inspired (by an impudent Kandarian demon's unfortunate observation) to invoke the creation of his own film: to be an even cult-er classic than the Kandarian's.
It worked: after a chaotic ritual in an abandonded toolshed behind his residence, one of those affected by the Call - through a chance viewing of the viral Kandarian Moonlight - was 'suddenly inspired' to create a feature-length film with a rather esoteric message about the chaotic futility of existence, all on almost no budget. He named it Orcus. He gave no reason why.
The Call reached others: inspiring a nondescript high school science teacher - someone who'd shown no previous interest or skill at creative 'artistic' endeavors. He was suddenly driven to write a book: 'The Last Book Ever Written'. He created the above image, which he dubbed 'The Thinker of Thanatos', but cannot recall the inspiration, only that it seemed 'fitting'. He never marketed the book, but just self-published, and began placing these icons in dark places - where those with susceptible, too-curious (and intoxicated) minds might be lulled in deeper. He has not said why he made the book, nor why he suddenly devoted four years of his life to its creation without monetary benefit.
